Workplace Harmony: Experience Has Taught Me That Conflicts Do Not Destroy Companies; Failing to Manage Them in Time Does
After almost forty years working in small, medium-sized and large organisations, I have reached one conclusion that experience has confirmed time and again: conflict is a natural part of every business.
I have experienced this reality from different professional perspectives: as an employee, a senior manager, a company director, a lawyer and, today, as a registered conflict mediator. This journey has given me an inside understanding of how organisations work and has shown me that problems rarely appear overnight. They usually begin as small disagreements, communication difficulties, poorly explained decisions or tensions that, if left unaddressed, eventually damage workplace harmony, the working environment, productivity and relationships between people.
It was precisely because I lived this reality for so many years that I decided to specialise in mediation. Today I help companies, organisations, business partners and professionals resolve conflicts more effectively, preserve working relationships whenever possible and prevent seemingly minor disagreements from developing into far more complex problems.
Workplace Harmony and a Positive Working Environment Are an Investment, Not an Expense
Many people believe that workplace harmony depends mainly on personalities or on the atmosphere within an organisation. My experience tells me otherwise.
A healthy workplace and a positive working environment are built every day through effective communication, sound leadership, clear rules and the willingness to address disagreements before they become entrenched.
Organisations that invest in people enjoy benefits that go far beyond employee wellbeing.
✓ Better communication between teams and departments.
✓ Greater employee commitment and engagement.
✓ Lower absenteeism and staff turnover.
✓ Fewer internal tensions and conflicts.
✓ Higher productivity and improved quality of work.
✓ Stronger leadership and greater trust.
✓ Faster and more effective decision-making.
✓ A stronger corporate reputation among clients, suppliers and business partners.
When people work in an environment based on trust, the entire organisation performs better.
The Real Cost of Unresolved Conflict
Many organisations spend months—or even years—living with conflicts that could have been resolved much earlier.
The consequences are usually the same:
✓ Loss of trust between colleagues.
✓ Communication problems.
✓ Divided teams.
✓ Reduced motivation.
✓ Increased sick leave and absenteeism.
✓ Loss of talented professionals.
✓ Declining quality of service.
✓ Delays in decision-making.
✓ Damage to the organisation’s reputation.
In many cases, the real problem is not the conflict itself, but how long it is allowed to remain unresolved.
Workplace Mediation: A Different Way to Resolve Conflict
Throughout my professional career, I have learned that most people do not need someone to tell them who is right.
What they truly need is an opportunity to listen to one another again.
That is exactly what mediation provides.
Workplace mediation is a confidential, impartial and voluntary process that helps restore communication, identify the interests of everyone involved and build lasting agreements.
Its purpose is not to create winners and losers. Its purpose is to find solutions.
Beyond resolving existing disputes, mediation is also an excellent preventive tool, helping organisations avoid unnecessary litigation and preventing professional or personal relationships from breaking down.
How Can I Help Your Organisation?
Throughout my work as both a lawyer and a mediator, I have assisted organisations and professionals facing a wide variety of situations.
For example:
✓ Conflicts between business partners.
✓ Family business disputes.
✓ Disagreements within management teams.
✓ Communication problems between departments.
✓ Conflicts between employees and managers.
✓ Organisational restructuring.
✓ Complex negotiations.
✓ Prevention and management of internal conflicts.
✓ Improving the working environment.
✓ Commercial and organisational mediation processes.
A Different Perspective: The Experience of Someone Who Has Worked Inside Organisations
An important part of my work is helping people restore communication.
However, there is another aspect that I consider equally important: understanding how organisations truly operate.
After almost forty years in the business world, holding positions of responsibility, I understand the challenges faced by those who lead teams, make strategic decisions, negotiate with clients and suppliers, and balance interests that are often difficult to reconcile.
This experience allows me to approach conflicts from a practical perspective, combining legal knowledge, business experience and mediation techniques.
I do not speak only from theory.
I speak from experience.
