
19 Feb New Anti-Rumor Training in Barcelona in 2025
The Barcelona City Council, through the BCN Interculturality Program, is organizing a new anti-rumor training in 2025, focused on imaginaries, racism, and discriminatory narratives, with an intercultural approach to analyze and combat various forms of discrimination.
Training Objectives
This training is aimed at:
– Analyzing how imaginaries about cultural diversity are constructed and their influence on discrimination.
– Identifying and understanding different forms of violence, racism, and discrimination, both symbolic and structural.
– Providing intercultural tools and methodologies to detect and transform discriminatory narratives in media and social communication.
Schedule and Formats
The course will be offered in several editions, both in-person and online:
– Edition 1 (in-person): March 4, 11, 18, 25 and April 1 (from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Registration open until February 17.
– Edition 2 (online): May 5, 12, 19, 26 and June 2 (from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.).
– Edition 3 (in-person): June 4, 11, 18, 25 and July 2 (from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.).
– Edition 4 (online): October 14, 21, 28 and November 4 and 11 (from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.).

Key Content
The training will be delivered in five sessions, each with a specific focus:
– Construction of cultural imaginaries and their influence on the perception of diversity.
– Intercultural perspective and strategies to address discrimination.
– Islamophobia and its historical construction.
– Narratives in the media: how to detect and transform discriminatory messages.
– Transformative interculturality and the application of intercultural criteria in daily life.
Who Is It For?
This course is intended for residents or active individuals in Barcelona, including technical staff, volunteers from organizations and local services, as well as interested citizens.
Certification and Registration
Participants will receive a certificate of attendance if they meet a minimum attendance of 80%. The training is free, and registration for the March in-person edition will be open until February 17.
